How our plastic recycling process works

The chemical process developed by Re4real allows to convert used plastic products into a resource, transforming the polymer into its primary constituents – the monomers – through ambient pressure and temperature.

Our process uses latest-generation bio-organic catalysts, non-toxic, biodegradable and metal-free, which significantly lower the activation energy required to split the polymer.

The mechanism of operation of the catalyst is analogous to what happens in biological chemistry operated by enzymes which, thanks to their structures, are able to promote the chemical processes at the basis of life, otherwise impossible under ordinary conditions of temperature and body pressure.

The catalyst developed was designed based on this enzymatic principle. Just like an enzyme, it has characteristics of function – promoting chemical reactions – and constitution, because the molecules that compose it are the foundation of life itself.

The chemical process of depolymerization is, in all respects, a bio process with thousands of possible applications: from the PET industry to Fashion, from the Automotive to the mold industry. It is a game changer throughout the whole supply chain.
